When necessary, patients are admitted on a <strong>day hospital basis<\/strong> in dedicated, shielded rooms, in full compliance with radiation protection regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span  id=\"activities\" class=\"h2_anchor\"><\/span>Activities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PET\/CT Diagnostics: Detailed Functional Imaging<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The department utilizes various <strong>PET\/CT tracers<\/strong>, each selected for specific clinical indications:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>18F-FDG (fluorodeoxyglucose)<\/strong>: the most widely used tracer in a large number of malignancies in staging, assessment of response to therapy (early or late), radiotherapy treatment planning, and in suspected disease recurrence;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>18F-FCH (fluorocholine)<\/strong>: specific radiopharmaceutical for prostate pathology and adenoma detection in patients with primary hyperparathyroidism;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>18F-DCFPyL (PSMA)<\/strong>: prostate-specific radiopharmaceutical with elective indication for biochemical recurrence after primary treatment, with PSA values even below 1 ng\/ml.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Scintigraphic Diagnostics and SPECT\/CT: In-depth Functional Assessment<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to PET\/CT, the department performs <strong>conventional scintigraphy<\/strong> to investigate different aspects of oncological and metabolic disease:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Total body bone scintigraphy:<\/strong> evaluates bone metabolism and enables early detection of skeletal metastases from various cancers. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lymphatic and lymph node scintigraphy:<\/strong> identifies sentinel lymph nodes in breast, gynecologic, urologic, and melanoma cancers. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Liver scintigraphy:<\/strong> preparatory test for radioembolization treatment. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Thyroid scintigraphy:<\/strong> assesses thyroid function and aids in characterizing nodules or framing hyperthyroidism. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lung scintigraphy:<\/strong> evaluates lung perfusion, important for pre-surgical assessment, embolism diagnosis, and follow-up of obstructive lung diseases.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Radiometabolic Therapy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The department also provides <strong>therapeutic treatments with radiopharmaceuticals<\/strong>, including <strong>radioembolization (TARE)<\/strong>.
