The Unit\u2019s activities are organized into three main areas: anesthesia, resuscitation, and long-term central venous catheter implantation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The patient pathway is supported by <strong>Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS)<\/strong> protocols, which aim to promote faster postoperative recovery, minimize complications, and improve overall quality of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span  id=\"activities\" class=\"h2_anchor\"><\/span>Activities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Anesthesia<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The team manages all anesthesiologic procedures required for surgical and interventional oncology procedures. The choice of anesthesia\u2014general, locoregional, or plexus\u2014is tailored to the patient\u2019s clinical condition and shared with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Within the <strong>ERAS <\/strong>framework, particular attention is given to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Optimized preoperative preparation, including patient education, reduced fasting times, and proper hydration;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Careful fluid management to prevent hydroelectrolyte imbalances;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Anesthetic techniques designed to minimize opioid use and enhance recovery.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Resuscitation and Post-Operative Intensive Care<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Unit provides intensive care and postoperative monitoring for the most complex patients, ensuring continuity of care during critical periods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In line with <strong>ERAS <\/strong>principles, the focus includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Nutritional optimization<\/strong> with early resumption of oral feeding<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Early mobilization<\/strong>, beginning within hours after surgery<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strategies to <strong>reduce respiratory and infectious complications<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Long-Term Central Venous Access<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Many cancer patients require stable and safe venous access for chemotherapy, parenteral nutrition, or prolonged therapies.
