{"id":4971,"date":"2025-10-10T15:58:14","date_gmt":"2025-10-10T13:58:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/irccs.com\/board-users\/"},"modified":"2026-03-30T09:38:24","modified_gmt":"2026-03-30T07:38:24","slug":"patients-board","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/irccs.com\/en\/patients-board\/","title":{"rendered":"Patients&#8217; Board"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span  id=\"participation-and-dialogue\" class=\"h2_anchor\"><\/span>Participation and dialogue<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>participation of patients and users in the planning of health care choices<\/strong> and its involvement in decision-making processes are indispensable conditions in a modern health care system interested in the effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the services provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Candiolo IRCCS has been a proponent of establishing a team of patient representatives, the &#8220;board,&#8221; to place the user as a key player within the care system by fostering a dialogue between the parties, with the aim of improving the following <strong>goals<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Broaden the strategic vision of the organization by identifying priorities, expectations and needs of patients;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Integrate the views of patients and family members into care, treatment and research decision-making processes;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rethinking the processes of interaction between the health care facility and the user and their needs, with a view to continuous improvement of products and services;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>positively impact patient education and empowerment in oncology, seen as a bidirectional approach to training\/information and communication.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Patient <strong>representatives<\/strong> are identified through the following criteria:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Patients in the care of the Institute for at least 6 months;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Patients who have an ongoing care relationship with the Institute;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Patients managed by different specialties (surgical and medical) are included to assemble a representative sample of the various care pathways.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Candidates for board membership are identified upon recommendation of the Institute\u2019s physicians from patients who meet the above criteria. The Medical Director then convenes these individuals to invite them to join the board.
