{"id":5022,"date":"2025-09-19T13:29:09","date_gmt":"2025-09-19T11:29:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/irccs.com\/ethics-committee\/"},"modified":"2026-05-26T14:01:02","modified_gmt":"2026-05-26T12:01:02","slug":"ethics-committee","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/irccs.com\/en\/ethics-committee\/","title":{"rendered":"Ethics Committee"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span  id=\"ensuring-the-safety-and-well-being-of-patients\" class=\"h2_anchor\"><\/span>Ensuring the Safety and Well-Being of Patients<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Candiolo Cancer Institute ensures that every clinical trial proposed by its physicians and researchers is reviewed by a <strong>competent<\/strong> <strong>Ethics Committee (CET)<\/strong>, selected according to the nature of the study and in compliance with national and European regulations.<br \/>Before any clinical trial can begin, it must undergo a rigorous evaluation by independent bodies. The primary objective of this process is to<strong> safeguard the safety, rights, and well-being of all participants.<\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span  id=\"identification-of-the-relevant-ethics-committee\" class=\"h2_anchor\"><\/span>Identification of the Relevant Ethics Committee<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Depending on the type of study, the reference Ethics Committee is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Clinical trials with medicinal products<\/strong>: CET designated by the sponsor as the national \u201cSingle Ethics Committee,\u201d in accordance with Ministerial Decree 30.01.2023. <strong>Medical device studies and prospective pharmacological observational studies<\/strong>: CET designated as the reference Ethics Committee for the Study Coordinating Center. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Other study types<\/strong> (non-pharmacological research, observational non-pharmacological studies, cell\/tissue studies, nutritional studies, and requests for therapeutic or compassionate use): Territorial Interagency Ethics Committee of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cittadellasalute.to.it\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=22309&amp;Itemid=715\">AOU City of Health and Science of Turin Territorial Interagency Ethics Committee<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Interventional drug studies<\/strong>: conducted in accordance with EU Regulation 536\/2014, which ensures high standards of safety, transparency, and oversight. The process is managed through the Clinical Trials Information System (CTIS), the European platform for submission and evaluation of clinical trials.<br \/>The evaluation process takes place in two steps:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>AIFA \u2013 Italian Medicines Agency<\/strong> assesses the scientific validity of the study and the investigational medicinal product;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Territorial Ethics Committee (CET)<\/strong> evaluates ethical aspects, participant protection, and safety considerations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span  id=\"the-role-of-the-ethics-committee\" class=\"h2_anchor\"><\/span>The Role of the Ethics Committee<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The CET is an <strong>independent body<\/strong> responsible for ensuring that only ethically and scientifically appropriate studies are approved and initiated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before any study begins, the CET verifies that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the study is <strong>ethically and scientifically sound<\/strong> <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the <strong>information <\/strong>provided to participants is <strong>clear, complete, and understandable<\/strong> <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the procedures involved are <strong>safe and appropriate<\/strong> <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the <strong>rights, dignity, and welfare of participants are fully protected<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Without the approval of the Ethics Committee, no clinical study can be initiated at the Candiolo Cancer Institute.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ensuring the Safety and Well-Being of Patients<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Candiolo Cancer Institute ensures that every clinical trial proposed by its physicians &#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_relevanssi_hide_post":"","_relevanssi_hide_content":"","_relevanssi_pin_for_all":"","_relevanssi_pin_keywords":"","_relevanssi_unpin_keywords":"","_relevanssi_related_keywords":"","_relevanssi_related_include_ids":"","_relevanssi_related_exclude_ids":"","_relevanssi_related_no_append":"","_relevanssi_related_not_related":"","_relevanssi_related_posts":"","_relevanssi_noindex_reason":"","footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-5022","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.6 -
