Mission
The Health Directorate of the Candiolo Institute – IRCCS coordinates, manages and controls all health activities of the Institute, ensuring that each service meets the highest standards of quality, safety and clinical appropriateness.
It collaborates closely with the General Management and the various Operational Units to ensure a care pathway that is not only clinically effective, but also humane, transparent and respectful of patient dignity, promoting a care model based on interdisciplinary collaboration and continuous improvement in the quality of care.
Responsibility
The Health Directorate performs policy, coordination and supervisory functions in numerous areas, including:
- organization and coordination of clinical activities and health personnel, promoting training and continuing education initiatives;
- Protection of the privacy and rights of the person being cared for, with particular attention to the proper application of informed consent to health care treatment;
- Management of medical records and surgical record, ensuring traceability, completeness and compliance with applicable regulations;
- prevention and safety in the workplace, in cooperation with the Prevention and Protection Service;
- Sanitation surveillance, with a focus on care-related infections (HAIs) and antimicrobial resistance (AMR);
- Clinical risk management (Risk Management), with activities to prevent, monitor and analyze adverse events;
- Definition and monitoring of diagnostic and therapeutic care pathways (PDTAs) to ensure quality, appropriateness and continuity of care;
- Supervision of the proper use of health care resources and accreditation and quality procedures;
- supervision of the activity of diagnostic and laboratory services, ensuring standards of effectiveness and safety;
- Promotion of preventive, rehabilitative and social medicine initiatives, as well as health education.
The Medical Director organizes and directs the Reception and Service Center (CAS), the Interdisciplinary Care Groups (ICGs), and chairs the Clinical Risk Committee, the Medicines Committee, the Laboratories Committee, the SDO (Hospital Discharge Cards) Committee, the Pain-Free Hospital Committee, and the Good Use of Blood Committee.
Finally, the Medical Director is responsible for thePublic Relations Office (PRO).
