Care That Puts the Person at the Center
At the Candiolo Cancer Institute, treatment does not stop at therapies.
With the Candiolo Cares project, also made possible thanks to donations raised by the Piedmont Foundation for Cancer Research (FPRC), we offer patients and their caregivers some free services designed to improve their physical and emotional well-being during the course of treatment.
Each activity is created with the goal of helping people feel better, every day, even beyond illness.
Smoking Cessation Clinic
Quitting smoking is one of the most important steps for people facing, or who have faced, a cancer diagnosis. The Anti-Smoking Service offers free personalized support programs for patients receiving care at the Institute who wish to stop smoking, with dedicated assistance from specialized physicians and psychologists.
The service offers:

-
- Behavioral support programs and practical tools for managing nicotine addiction;
-
- Ongoing care during the cancer treatment pathway;
-
- Practical strategies to replace smoking (nicotine gum or patches, etc.);
-
- social and motivational support to meet the challenge together with family members and support groups.

Mindfulness
The mindfulness program was created to help patients manage emotions and thoughts related to the disease. Run by experienced psychologists, the meetings teach how to live in the present moment with greater awareness, reduce stress, anxiety and worries, and regain inner balance and serenity.
Thus, it is a free pathway open to patients taken care of by the hospital who wish to combine medical treatment with support for psychological and emotional well-being.
Pet Therapy
A Pet Therapy program is in operation atMonviso Hospice that allows patients to spend moments of serenity together with trained dogs and cats, guided by trained caregivers. These interactions help reduce stress, anxiety, and loneliness, improve mood, and promote mental and physical well-being.

Listening and Psychological Support Service for Caregivers
A free service dedicated to caregivers of patients at the Candiolo Institute, designed to offer a safe space in which to be listened to, lighten the emotional load and find new resources to cope with daily caregiving.
The institute’s psychologists accompany caregivers on a structured journey that combines moments of group sharing and individual meetings, working on anxiety, fatigue, communication and stress management. Relaxation exercises and periodic monitoring are also provided to sustain psychological well-being over time.
