Laboratory Analysis

Director: Dott. Mauro Pagliarino

Description

The Candiolo IRCCS Analytical Laboratory performs tests to support the diagnosis, prognosis and monitoring of therapeutic treatments, making a fundamental contribution to the diagnostic and therapeutic pathways of cancer patients.

The service is for both inpatients and outpatients older than 18 years, and is structured to ensure accurate and timely referrals, thanks to the use of state-of-the-art technology and the work of highly qualified staff.

A Transfusion Service also operates alongside the Laboratory, dedicated to the management, preparation and administration of blood products needed by cancer patients during surgical, chemotherapy or supportive treatments.
The service ensures maximum transfusion safety, constant monitoring of procedures, and close collaboration with clinical units to ensure continuity and quality of care.

Cutting-edge diagnostics through research

The Analytical Laboratory combines clinical experience and innovation: it uses advanced techniques and instruments updated to the latest research standards to offer high-quality diagnostic tests.

Activities

A wide range of tests can be performed at the laboratory, including:

  • Blood and serum tests;
  • Microbiological tests (blood culture, uroculture, coproculture, sputum, fecal Clostridium, fecal parasitology);
  • Urinalysis (single sample and 24-hour collection);
  • Occult blood in stool;
  • Stool examination;
  • Transfusion service.

These tests are useful for early detection of infection, metabolic dysfunction, hematologic changes, or signs of oncologic disease.
