Referente: Dr. Veronica Perlo

Description

The Pain Therapy and Palliative Care Service offers a modern, integrated and personalized approach to pain management.
The goal is to provide patients with timely and appropriate access to the latest analgesic treatments to ensure a better quality of life and improve the overall quality and effectiveness of care.

Palliative care is one of the pillars of “comprehensive” cancer patient care to also support the psychological, social and relational needs of those facing a complex treatment pathway.

Patients can count on a dedicated team that operates according to an interdisciplinary model involving oncologists, anesthesiologists, surgeons, internists, radiologists, radiation oncologists, psychologists, nutritionists, nurses and researchers.

The service consists of outpatient visits, inpatient consultations and interventional procedures.

Pain therapy

Pain therapy, or analgesic therapy, is a pathway of diagnosis and treatment of pain, acute and chronic. This pathway, done together with the patient, aims to relieve or eliminate pain and improve quality of life through the use of medications, interventional procedures, and educational pathways.

Palliative care: what does it consist of?

Palliative care is the treatment of “symptoms” caused by the oncological disease, its complications, or the care treatments patients undergo. It is an approach that provides support to patients and their families to alleviate suffering and improve the quality of life for people with incurable or advanced diseases.
