Dr. Andrea Droghetti received his medical degree from the University of Perugia, Italy, and his subsequent specialization in thoracic surgery from the University of Perugia, Italy.
He performed thoracic surgery between hospitals in Perugia, Terni, Bolzano, and from 2021 to 2023 he was Director of the Complex Structure of Thoracic Surgery in Mantua.
Since July 2023, he has been Director of Thoracic Oncology Surgery and Head of the Lung Program at IRCCS Candiolo.
In his career, he has performed more than 8000 total thoracic surgeries of which more than 4000 were performed as first operator and of which about 70% were major surgeries.
After stays In Boston, New York (USA) and Guanzhou (China), he has collected among the most experience in minimally invasive thoracic surgery and was among the first in Italy to perform lobectomy for lung cancer in VATS Videothoracoscopy since 2006.
He is National Head of the discipline of Thoracic Surgery in the Society POIS – Italian ERAS Society as well as founder and national coordinator of the “VATS Group – Italian VATS lobectomy group”, ERAS group.
Principal Investigator and Head of the “LUCENT” (Lung Cancer Observational Study), an international clinical research project that aims to standardize the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer.
He is the author of 8 books and more than 70 publications indexed on Pubmed-NCBI. Speaker at more than 200 national and international conferences.
