Description
At the Candiolo Cancer Institute, patients under care have access to a dedicated nutrition service led by specialists with expertise in the nutritional management of oncology patients.
Dietitians work in close collaboration with oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists, and other specialists to integrate nutrition into the treatment pathway from the outset, supporting patients at every stage, from diagnosis through follow-up.
Activities
The service addresses both diagnostic and therapeutic aspects, with particular focus on:
- Comprehensive assessment of each patient’s nutritional status, including the prescription of nutritional supplementation and, where appropriate, artificial nutrition, based on individualized care pathways;
- Clinical research in onco-nutrition aimed at developing and validating innovative dietary strategies to improve treatment tolerance, support recovery, and enhance quality of life.

The dietetics and clinical nutrition service is available exclusively to patients currently receiving care at the Institute.
