Mission
The Institute’s Health Directorate oversees, coordinates, and governs all healthcare activities, ensuring that every service meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and clinical appropriateness.
Working in close partnership with General Management and the Operational Units, it ensures care pathways that are not only clinically effective but also patient-centered, transparent, and respectful of individual dignity, fostering a model grounded in interdisciplinary collaboration and continuous quality improvement.
Responsibility
The Health Directorate carries out policy, coordination and oversight functions accross a wide range of areas, including:
- organizing and coordinating clinical activities and healthcare personnel, while promoting training and continuing professional development
- safeguarding patient rights and privacy, with particular attention to the proper application of informed consent
- managing medical and surgical records, ensuring traceability, completeness, and compliance with applicable regulations
- overseeing workplace health and safety in collaboration with the Prevention and Protection Service
- conducting health surveillance, with a focus on healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and antimicrobial resistance (AMR)
- leading clinical risk management activities, including the prevention, monitoring, and analysis of adverse events
- defining and monitoring diagnostic and therapeutic care pathways (PSDTA) to ensure quality, appropriateness, and continuity of care
- supervising the appropriate use of healthcare resources, as well as accreditation and quality assurance processes
- overseeing diagnostic and laboratory services to ensure effectiveness and safety standards
- promoting initiatives in prevention, rehabilitation, social medicine, and health education
The Medical Director oversees and coordinates the Reception and Service Center (CAS), the MultiDisciplinary Teams (or Interdisciplinary Care Groups GIC), and chairs key institutional committees, including the Clinical Risk Committee, Medicines Committee, Laboratories Committee, Hospital Discharge Records (SDO) Committee, Pain-Free Hospital Committee, and the Good Use of Blood Committee.
Finally, the Medical Director is responsible for the Public Relations Office (PRO).
