Description

The Department of Internal Medicine at IRCCS Candiolo is dedicated to the care of oncology patients who develop internal medicine complications, acute medical conditions that may interfere or delay the normal course of cancer treatment.

Activities

The department is specifically responsible for:

• Managing patients who experience sudden clinical complications, such as pneumonia, respiratory distress, heart failure, or other acute internal medicine conditions that require immediate, multidisciplinary medical intervention.
  
• Conducting comprehensive cardiovascular risk assessments prior to initiating advanced cancer therapies, enabling safer, personalized treatment plans that consider the patient’s overall health.

Access to the department

Access to the Department of Internal Medicine is currently restricted to inpatients or patients from other hospitals in the Piedmont region, provided their clinical condition aligns with the department’s mission: treating oncology patients with acute internal medicine complications.
