Description
The Analytical Laboratory at IRCCS Candiolo provides essential support for the diagnosis, prognosis, and monitoring of cancer treatments, making a fundamental contribution to the diagnostic and therapeutic pathways of patients.
The service is available to both inpatients and outpatients aged 18 and over. It is structured to ensure accurate and timely test results, leveraging state-of-the-art technology and the expertise of highly qualified laboratory staff.
A Transfusion Service operates alongside the Laboratory, managing the preparation and administration of blood products required by cancer patients during surgery, chemotherapy, or supportive treatments. This service prioritizes maximum transfusion safety, continuous monitoring of procedures, and close collaboration with clinical units to guarantee continuity and quality of care.

Activities
The Analytical Laboratory performs a wide range of tests, including:
- Blood and serum tests for routine monitoring and disease evaluation.
- Microbiological tests, including blood cultures, urine cultures, stool cultures, sputum analysis, fecal Clostridium detection, and parasitology.
- Urinalysis, including single-sample and 24-hour collection methods.
- Occult blood testing in stool for early detection of gastrointestinal pathology.
- Stool examinations for diagnostic purposes.
- Transfusion Service, managing the safe preparation, administration, and monitoring of blood products for cancer patients during surgery, chemotherapy, or supportive care.
These services allow for early detection of infections, metabolic dysfunctions, hematologic changes, or signs of oncologic disease, supporting accurate and timely patient care.

Withdrawals are accessible without reservation Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-9:30 p.m.

- “At the counters of the Phlebotomy Point from Monday to Friday, between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.; it is recommended to bring the paper prescription to speed up the process.
