Description

At the Candiolo Cancer Institute, patients under care can access psychological consultations as part of their treatment pathway, with the goal of supporting not only physical health but also emotional and relational well-being. The Institute considers psychological health a fundamental component of coping with cancer and the recovery process.

The Psychology Service works closely with the multidisciplinary team, providing continuous support throughout the oncology journey, from diagnosis to rehabilitation and follow-up.

Activities

The Psychology Service provides:

  • Psychological support for patients and caregivers: Individual, couple, or family counseling, as well as group sessions, aimed at helping patients and families cope with anxiety, fear, stress, and changes in daily life.
  • Psychological and social support for families with children, adolescents, or other vulnerable individuals: Through the Fragile Families Protection Project, in collaboration with the Piedmont and Aosta Valley Oncology Network, the service offers psychotherapeutic support, fosters communication and relationships with fragile family members, and provides social and welfare guidance via local community networking
  • Body mediation therapies: Interventions that combine psychological work with body awareness and relaxation techniques to improve stress management, support recovery, and promote positive self-perception.
