Description
Candiolo Cancer Institute offers patients under its care the opportunity to access social-assistance counseling, particularly for those most vulnerable or facing social and family challenges.
Activities
The social worker at Candiolo Institute provides the following services:
- Provides information on welfare and social security benefits for patients and their families
- Facilitates protected discharges, transfers to nursing facilities, or hospice care;
- Collaborates with all stakeholders within the institute;
- Manages contacts with social workers from aptient’s local ASL home municipalities or other institutions;
- Facilitates access to local territorial services;
- Assists with petitions for the appointment of a support administrator or other forms of guardianship;
- Provides guidence and supports in arranging “imminently life-threatening” marriages.

How to access
The social work service can only be used by patients already in the care of the Institute.
