Prof. Anna Sapino, Scientific Director of the Candiolo Cancer Institute (FPO-IRCCS), earned her degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Turin and subsequently specialized in Pathological Anatomy at the University of Milan.
She is Full Professor of Pathologic Anatomy and has served as Director of the Department of Laboratory Medicine at the AOU City of Health and Science of Turin, as well as Director of the Department of Medical Sciences at the University of Turin. She also served as president of the Italian Society of Anatomic Pathology and Cytology (SIAPeC) and as a member of the Higher Health Council.
From 2015 to 2025, she served as the Director of Pathological Anatomy at the Candiolo Cancer Institute.
She currently serves as President of the Italian Institute of Medical Genomics.
Prof. Sapino has authored or co-authored more than 400 scientific publications, which have received over 19,000 citations, with an h-index of 75.
She also serves as an international reviewer for competitive research grant programs.
