Dr. Mario Salio graduated in 1982 with a degree in Medicine and Surgery with 110/110 cum laude from the University of Genoa and later specialized in Diseases of the Respiratory System and then in Respiratory Physiopathology and Physiokinesis Therapy also in the University of Genoa.
In 1986 he was hired at Alexandria Hospital where he was mainly involved in Interventional Pulmonology.
In 2013, after winning the public competition for a five-year appointment, he became director of the complex facility of Interventional Address Pneumology at IRCCS Policlinico San Martino in Genoa, where he worked until 2020 when he returned to
Alexandria with the position of director of the complex facility of Respiratory Diseases.
He has been a consultant pulmonologist at IRCCS Candiolo since 2025.
He has been an adjunct professor at the University of Genoa and at the Polytechnic University of Marche and is still a lecturer at the Level II Master’s Degree in Interventional Pneumology at the University of Florence.
He is the author of 51 publications in Italian and international journals and a speaker at more than 100 national and international conferences.
From 2012 to 2016, he was head of the Interventional Pneumology Study Group of the Italian Association of Hospital Pneumologists.
