Prof. Umberto Vitolo received his medical degree from the University of Turin and later specialized in Hematology and Immunology at the Universities of Pavia and Florence.
He spent a fellowship at the Cancer Research Center, University of Chicago, in oncohematology.
He has been in professional practice at Molinette Hospital in Turin since 1980, first head of the Lymphoma Chemoimmunotherapy Unit and from 2008 to 2019 director of Hospital Hematology.
He has been working at IRCCS Candiolo since 2020, and is a consultant hematologist and head of hematology clinical trials, with a focus in lymphoma clinical research.
He was the founder of the Italian Lymphoma Foundation, a member of the Italian Society of Hematology, the American Society of Hematology, the European Hematology Association and the Academy of Medicine of Turin.
Collaborates on the drafting of the EIS, ESMO and EHA lymphoma guidelines.
He has authored and co-authored about 270 scientific publications.
