Description
Candiolo IRCCS has an ordinary inpatient ward of Medical Oncology, with 30 beds for patients diagnosed with solid malignancy or oncohematologic disease.
This is where the most advanced drug therapies are administered, with a focus on molecularly targeted drugs and immunotherapy treatments, which represent one of the most promising frontiers in cancer treatment today.
Within the department there is also a Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSC) and Cellular Therapies Center specialized for patients who need hematopoietic stem cell transplantation: either autologous (with cells from the same patient) or allogeneic (with cells from a matched donor).

The Medical Oncology Department deals with:
- Diagnosis, treatment and long-term monitoring (follow-up) of cancer patients;

- inclusion of patients in more than 70 clinical trial protocols, some of them carried out in collaboration with leading national and international cancer centers;
- Use of the Biotechnology Laboratory attached to the department for translational research activities, that is, to turn scientific discoveries into concrete cures for patients.
Endowments

- 4 beds in protected isolation rooms reserved for patients undergoing high-risk immunosuppression therapies, such as stem cell transplants.
