Description
The Oncology Day Hospital at IRCCS Candiolo is a facility dedicated to the delivery of oncology therapies that require scheduled care of less than one day’s duration. It is an environment designed to accommodate patients in a safe, efficient and respectful manner to their personal needs, offering an integrated and multidisciplinary care pathway.
The primary goal is to improve the quality of life of cancer patients by providing cyclical care that does not require hospitalization and with the most modern quality standards tailored to the specific clinical needs of each patient. This makes it possible to reduce the impact of care on the person’s daily life, promoting the person’s maintenance of his or her autonomy and social and work integration.
Special attention is also paid to psychological support, to accompany the patient and his or her family members along the entire care pathway, helping to face the different stages of the disease with greater serenity.
Within the Day Hospital, the patient’s overall clinical picture is constantly maintained and updated: from diagnosis, to medical-surgical treatments, to follow-up, with the goal of always offering an integrated, person-focused approach. The DHO operates Monday through Friday and is a focal point for ensuring continuity of care, offering skilled care that takes into account each patient’s clinical picture at all stages of the treatment pathway.
